Why KYC?

We get it.

It's unnerving to be asked for personal data.

Here's why, no bullshit.

When you choose to pay by Credit Card through our Payment Gateways, such as Link by Stripe and Paybis.

Your card transaction is processed as a purchase of cryptocurrency (USDC) under the hood.

This is known as an ‘on-ramp’ transaction.

Cryptocurrency on-ramps, which convert fiat to crypto via bank transfers or cards, must comply with strict global regulations. These are specifically designed to combat terrorism financing and money laundering. To enforce these measures, governments such as those in the US, EU, and Australia require KYC (Know Your Customer) checks to verify identities and prevent the misuse of funds for financing terrorists and laundering money.

Our partners, Link by Stripe and Paybis, are obligated to follow these KYC regulations, similar to other platforms like Binance, Crypto.com, or Coinbase, ensuring that all crypto purchases meet these critical security and compliance standards.

Stripe, Paybis and other OnRamps have two levels of KYC: light and full.

  • Light KYC: This typically involves verifying your email address and providing your SSN, ID number etc.
  • Full KYC: This includes everything in the light KYC, plus uploading identity documents and completing a live video selfie (liveness check).

The specific requirements for KYC are determined by Paybis and Stripe. Their policies on when to request light or full KYC are internal and not fully transparent to the public. Therefore, we have no control over what is required for your verification process.

Not us. We can’t emphasize this enough.

Stripe and Paybis (and other processors) keeps them. You provide this information directly to them, not through us

(See more on “How can I trust that you are actually using Link.com and Paybis)

Not a chance.

These are reputable companies that we work with, and they take GDPR compliance (and other countries’ personal data protection legislation) very seriously.

Yes.

Link By Stripe is a product offered to merchants to help customers simply the payment process. (See https://stripe.com/en-my/payments/link)

The domain “Link.com” is itself is explicitly mentioned (and hyperlinked) at https://docs.stripe.com/payments/link.

Don’t take our word for it. Verify for yourself by visiting  https://docs.stripe.com/payments/link and searching for “link.com”. A screenshot is also provided below:

Paybis.com is a cryptocurrency exchange platform founded in 2014 and headquartered in Warsaw, Poland.

It provides a service that allows users to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies using various payment methods, such as bank transfers, credit cards, and debit cards.

Although Paybis is not regulated by major financial authorities like the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), it is registered with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) in the US and FINTRAC in Canada, which helps it comply with anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing regulations.

Reliable sources of reviews of Paybis can be found on  Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store.

Don’t trust us blindly, verify the top level domain for yourself.

After selecting the respective Card Checkout Options, you will be redirected to the respective providers (such as link.com, and paybis.com).

Verify the Top Level Domain of the website you are brought to before proceeding further! In other words, make sure you see link.com instead of llnk.com. Also make sure the website is secured by HTTPS instead of just HTTP.
